We all know that the regular practice of physical exercise is one of the pillars of a healthy lifestyle.
And in fact, more and more scientific evidence shows us the close relationship between inactivity and the increase in the rate of chronic diseases such as:
cardiovascular disease, diabetes, cancer and obesity.
By practicing physical exercise we are contributing for a good health and for our mental wellbeing.
We have always been adept to Sports. With more or less intensity, we’ve always tried to find a time of our day to go to the gym or to go running.
But our schedule not always allowed that and sometimes, other priorities would speak louder.
Well, there are times in our life when we are forced to redefine priorities, and this was certainly one of those times.
We put an end to all excuses and the practise of physical activity is here to stay…EVERYDAY :)
This decision was mainly supported by the information that we’ve received regarding the proved benefits of physical activity in preventing
and reducing the risk of relapse in breast cancer. That, and the pleasure we had in physical activity made us look for a healthier lifestyle while we were still having treatments, and start our path
looking for a healthier lifestyle where physical exercise had a vital role.
From racing to Bodyboard, there are several modalities that we love and take us out of the house, always with a big motivation and a smile on our faces.
Either as a treatment or as prevention, for your health or just for your wellbeing, for stubbornness or for the sake of overcoming a challenge, whatever your motivation, don’t allow routine
to dictate your priorities!
Appreciate life, appreciate yourself! Practise physical exercise… for your sake and for the sake of others.
Was it difficult? Yes, it was!
Did we want to give up? Yes, we did!
But actually, despite all adversities,
among tears, rain and sweat we finished the competition with the feeling that “we can do it!”
We can run 10 km, we can exceed our goals,
we can win battles… WE CAN DO IT!
Who has never tried going on a nice hike?
Alone or with company, when we go on a hike we can perceive the sounds, the scents, the colours…
we can observe everything around us more attentively and in a more reflexive way.
We breathe deeply and take another step.
And step by step, in a slower or faster pace we feel that we will get there…
that we have to get there!
Although in the beginning the idea of taking the board and going to sea seemed frightening…
the truth is that after some hours, many laughs and some sips of water
we had made the decision! Going to sea once a week, always! Top priority!
In fact, the sea has a purifying effect on our mind.
The tiredness of some hours spent in the sea brings us an unimaginable wellbeing.
We’ve left so much sadness, anxiety and worries in the sea…
The sea is our confidant, the sea is undoubtedly one of our passions!
Whenever I look at this climb, it is as if we’d challenge each other…
will I be able to get there?
Today I left home, put on my equipment, rode on my bike with the clear aim to get up there and say… I made it!
That’s not always the case.
But the main thing is never to give up and get back again, always with an goal…
because after all, “the first step to accomplish something is wanting it”…
Padel… my new passion.
Not that I’m very skilled.
In fact, even today I’m not sure if I hold the racket well…
but there’s no explaining the pleasure that I get each time that I play!!
It makes you wonder :)
Do you need something else? Something that may challenge you and bring you to your knees?
Then this modality is for you!
I’ve recently started this practice and I love it!
Twice a week, rain or shine… there we are!!
We all know training doesn’t require much, just a pair of trainers
and we can easily go for a hike or go running.
Nevertheless, for a training session, group classes or regular training
we have a favourite place that is already a part of our daily routine. It’s almost our home away from home.
Excellent professionals in a very pleasant atmosphere! That’s how we define Lagoas Health Club. With a very comprehensive variety of classes, attentive
and well trained teachers in a very well kept place… and a wonderful swimming pool!
